Thomas House Inn with Ghost Hunt Weekends and Steve Gonsalves

Traveled to Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee with my son for a Halloween Night adventure that did not disappoint. The old hotel is located in the middle of nowhere, which is approximately 7 1/2 hour drive from my home. Started a day early and took our time. We like the scenic route and chosing to travel along the highways and byways avoiding the interstate on a rainy day. Beautiful country explored as we stopped to shop, eat, and shit time and again. I was excited to reach Cookeville, TN a place that I've come to enjoy over the years. Many times we stop here on an adventure, road trip, concert, event, or haunted local. For me time spent with the family is something that make this old lady happy. And I do like to stay happy.   

The next day we finish the last hour stretch to the Thomas House Inn. This place was once "THE PLACE" to be. Known as the Cloyd Place Hotel or Cloyd Hotel back in 1890, this was where the elite of the elite came to heal, play, and stay. Visited by presidents and haunted by paupers, the site has changed over the years. At it's conception it was a smaller 18 room hotel "Cloyd Place" that enticed those to the "healing springs" such as the more popular in that time, Saratoga Springs, NY. Mineral spas were popping up all over the country and the Cloyd Brothers recognized the potential and capitalized on the concept. 

1929 fire burnt the original building and the Cloyd brothers (William, Zachariah, Henry and Thomas) rebuilt the old struction into a new brick hotel that had 54 rooms. The facility also now had a two lane (5 pin) bowling ally, a swimming pool, golf course, croquet court, an in house orchestra, and freestone water pumps!  The hotel was not just luxurious but kinda shady. This was also the place where the rich drank, partied, enjoyed prostitutes. It was a place where they went to ignore life and hid from the depression laid up in the healing springs high on life. With these highs came lows. Lows such as drownings, murders, infidelities, and mysteries yet uncovered.

The spirits that linger there seem ready to connect and try to share their story with the living still. Some tales include: 

• "Sarah" the child spirit in room 37. 
  • Note this is the room that Dakota and I stayed. Prior to the night research attempts to tie her to the Cloyd Brothers was unfounded. Our personal investigation and spiritualist communications had the spirit not responding to "Sarah" yet there was a strong energy there. 
  • Flashlight, EMF, and spirit box responses in the room. 
• "Edwin Rush" the child that drown in the swimming pool. 8/2/53 - 7/29/61. 7 years old at the time the boy's spirit is very interactive in the house and on the grounds over the now filled in pool area and pool house. 
  • During our investigation the child climbed up on a staff member's lap. Evidenced by thermal camera, showing the boy sitting with both his legs to the one side of hers and his head on her shoulder.  All witnessed the cold spots and energy shifts in the room. EMF lit up significantly during the experience. 
• Same room on the left of the end of the green hallway hosts a man's energy. Said the man is "Lover Boy". Possibly the man that was sleeping with Mr. Cloyd's wife ending in being shot in the leg and a physical altercation causing him to fall from the second story balcony. 
  • While staff was demonstrating equipment in the hallway, this writer and two other attendies noticed movement in the last room on the left. I personally seen eyes and felt a sharp pain on the upper right side of my head. The energy was nervous and felt "off" to me. At one point Dakota and I at the same time was like "Did you see him," and we entered the room with EMF readings. 
• The night before photo evidence of person was captured in the green hallway. Also Mr. Cloyd is felt and seen throughout the hotel in various locations. 
• In the white hallway there was flashlight activity in "Sarah's Room" but the next room down there is photo evidence of an older lady standing over the bed of investigators.  The rooms at the end of the hall were hot with lots of EMF and spirit box responses.  
  • Investigators were having physical attacks with pain in the neck accompanied by very cold spots.  Over top of the person there were photographs of a black mass hanging around the ceiling in the corner. My thermal imaging camera got a pic showing heat in the same area the black image was in the photograph. As I was investigating with an EMF the spirit box staff had set up was stating thing such as "Im having fun", "dont leave me", and more. It felt like it wasy toying with me drawing energy away when I found it and then popping up again a few seconds later playing hide and seek. 
• There was EMF, flashlight, and spirit box chatter in the "lounge" area atop the stairs
• Downstairs library was heavier at times. Several spirits rotated around and provided spirit box conversations.  This room did have an oujia board rug and four mirrors that created a cross portal in the room.  
  • Elemental  - talking about plants being unhappy and mischeif on the grounds. 
  • British man was angry and insulting coming across the spirit boxes that were set up there. 
• Seance room is where I spent a great deal of time with soem new friends. A lady and myself were on the dowsing rods. There was also a pendulum on stand that was active during our session.
  • When connecting with another lady's family that passed all 5 people in the room heard a woman's breathy voice say "YYEESS" aloud. This was caught on a digital recorder and I will share that recording after I have time to upload it. 
  • Foot steps above us in a storage only area blocked off from usage at this time. 
  • Very loud popping and cracking that could not be explained. 
  • Temperature dropped about ten degrees and later returned to normal after the session ended, with the heat kicking on after it was already warm again. 

It was amazing that we got what we did due to the large amount of people, most of which had drank that night and was too loud. I would not submit any of the EVP things found due to the contaminations.  It is also of note that most all of my equipment malfunctioned or had drained battaries even thogh it was all charged or new battaries placed in it the night before.

Also I cant explain the energy feel. It was oddly comfortable with so much pain, fustration, and sadness that was familiar yet new. Dakota said it reminded him of the Nickerson Snead House back in the day. 

The event itself was a good time. When we got there we met a couple in the parking lot that felt like friends we have had forever. Then a man from Dallas. His energy had me attached to him like family. Loved this couple for this and that couple for that. The lady and her man that sat with me were fun. Being here was fun. It is about finding your people and being in that good, like minded energy where there is acceptance and no fucks given. Relaxing and exciting at the same time. 

And...ummmm.... Steve.  Steve Gonsalves. Im not gonna fan girl much. But this is the fourth event that I atteneded that he just happened to be at. (Blushing). During his presentation, he stops and looks at me from across the table that is just 15 foot or so away from the stage. "Is that Minnie Mouse"? And I engaged...my purse led to me showing my matching tattoos and we talked about theme park vs. Disney cruises. Then snap. Realized we were in a rabbit hole... He resumed his presentation. I'm 50 years old and crushed like a school girl. There. Now all of you know one of my secrets.

And I want to say that I am really liking him more and more as he gets older. Just sayin'.

The house?  Yeah.  I'll be back. On a quieter night with more battaries. 

Oh, and the staff of the Ghost Hunt Weekends? I'd pay to go to any of their events. Great people that do a great job. No bullshit. No gimmicks. For love of the afterlife.
